The weather couldn’t be more perfect in Sydney at the moment. So, my friend Jade and I decided to make the most of the warmer temperatures and clear blue skies heading to Mosman, on Sydney’s north shore for a decadent high tea at Gunners Barracks.
This high point with views over the entire harbour formed an important role in Sydney’s army defences in the 1800’s.
Today, it provides the perfect spot for tourists and locals alike to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea with arguably the best views of the city.
The sitting room’s plush interior was extremely inviting. I fell in love with the ornate mirrors and chandeliers.
We took a seat on the verandah of the elegantly restored Gunners Barracks and anxiously anticipated the arrival of our tea stand. I chose a black rose tea and Jade went for a sencha tea.
The finger sandwiches were innovative takes on the traditional favourites like cucumber and smoked salmon.
The pastry chefs also applied this idea to sweets like the unique beetroot cheesecake.
After polishing off every last little crumb we thought we ought to go for a long, long walk.
From the Barracks we weren’t short of options but we decided to explore the surrounding grounds and walk along the coastline towards the famous Taronga Zoo.
We are definitely looking forward to diving in to that bright blue water very soon!
